About Louise

Louise Kennedy is a contemporary artist based in the West Lothian area of Scotland.

She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2020 with a BA(Hons) Degree in Fine Art Photography, before completing an MLitt in Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art) from Glasgow School of Art in 2021.

Although Louise works with a range of mediums and forms, from photography, photo restoration, drawing, clay, and jewellery-making, she always finds herself naturally migrating back to painting.

"My muse is my current life - I'm excited by what's in front of me and I gravitate towards capturing that in painting or photographic form. My love for painting animals and trying to capture their soul through their expression has been a constant focus of my practice and likely always will be. Within the last year (2025), I have been blessed to become a Mother and so my inspiration has recently transformed into, what I call 'Studies of Motherhood' - capturing the realities of everyday life with a wee one."
